Developing a media table that boosts the versatility of Fujifilm’s groundbreaking wide format printers
The Journey
Until recently, wide format print operators had to adapt to circumvent a printer’s restrictions. The new Acuity media table is designed to give them the power and flexibility to do what they do best.
Intuitive functionality runs through the entire design, with quick release functionality and easy-to-use alignment guides allowing print jobs to be done faster than ever before. In addition switching between roll-to-roll, flat boards and large print media has never been easier providing unrivalled hybrid versatility.
A user-centred approach
By working closely with print operators and understanding the production workflow we were able to identify and address key sticking points that slow down work and frustrate use. The table self aligns and attaches directly to the printer using a custom latch design meaning tools are no longer necessary for a secure fit. Quality of life features were a focus to reduce downtime so we designed integrated storage including rails to store media rolls right where they are needed and side trays to keep essential equipment.
The Delivery
The media table had to be adaptable to allow for a range of media types including rolls, flat paper and rigid boards – to help operators we created a number of alignment tools that work seamlessly with the table to make setup a breeze and reduce misprints. In addition the entire table was designed to be flat packed for minimise transport impact.
The result of all these design features is a media table that customers love, making operators jobs easier and improving efficiency for print shop owners. It’s gone on to become a key selling point of Fujifilm’s hybrid printer range, proof that comprehensive and creative design has the power to deliver market-leading results.
