Einstein’s Wisdom – Design thinking?

Einstein

Design thinker extraordinaire

Once a thinker always a thinker…

It was Einstein’s birthday yesterday. He was born 138 years ago. So it is remarkable how relevant his thinking is today. What I find fascinating was his ability to visualise the universe in many unusual and complex ways, and yet distil this into simplicity. This seems to have not just given him the insights that continue to underpin science today, but extended into clear spiritual thinking of an almost artistic form. His wisdom about the world seems almost Buddhist, as cutting edge and yet timeless as his science. For example, he said:

“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the ‘Universe’, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

Beautiful. Inspiration for all of us responsible for creating the future world.
