The Journey
Cammotion asked Realise to help design a revolutionary new aerial camera system and deliver a fully functioning prototype ready to use on productions.
Our integrated user-centred design + engineering + design for manufacture approach produced an out-rigged and stabilised multi-section carbon fibre mast with tracking speeds of up to two meters per second.
The Result? The Vortex successfully covers high-profile events from Royal weddings to Formula 1.
The Design Challenge
Design a camera system that can be deployed within minutes, in any location and lift a 50Kg full-size broadcast camera in winds of up to 30 knots.
Our Design Solutions
Vortex was an industry first piece of equipment with no precident but through an extensive process of design, engineering and testing the final product was able to push the envelope in terms of height, payload and stability to surpass industry expectations.
The Delivery
A out-rigged and stabilised multi-section carbon fibre mast with tracking speeds of up to two meters per second, employing technologies from offshore yacht racing.
The Vortex successfully covers high profile events from Royal weddings to Formula 1.
