How often have you said “this designer didn’t find out how people really use these things…”. Taking time to understand everything the product must do is an often overlooked but essential part of getting it right.
We generally start with your business requirements, mapping out your brand values, probing marketing and sales strategies and investigating similar and competing products.
Then we conduct visits and interviews with potential users to see how they might interface with the object, the environmental conditions it may face and requirements for its functionality. We can also deal with any IP related tasks such as patent or trademark searches. Finally we translate all this into the design brief, a concrete and clear set of guidance we can agree now before launching into the investigation and concept design…
