Before committing to any form of manufacturing, it is strongly advised that you produce a range of prototypes. This can be an appearance prototype, to test the size, style, and look and feel. Alternatively, a quick test rig will focus on the fit and function of specific mechanisms and features.
A final working prototype is the closest you will get to the real thing; looking great and interfacing beautifully with the electronic and mechanical components needed.
